Lists on this device

Writing and checking lists is free. Local lists are stored on the device where you create them.

iCloud and shared lists

After a verified one-time upgrade, iCloud connects in the background. If a connection needs attention, open Settings → Sync & Sharing. Invite a friend first; after they accept, turn on sharing for a list and choose friends. The list is added automatically for connected friends; no separate list acceptance is needed. Each participant needs their own verified upgrade purchase.

Purchases

The app shows the App Store price before purchase. The upgrade is a one-time purchase. Existing purchases are checked automatically when the app opens or returns to the foreground. Use the Apple account that made the purchase; your iCloud account is a separate connection.

Sync progress and retries

Temporary sync failures are tried up to three times, waiting at least 2 then 8 seconds. A longer wait requested by Apple takes priority. Progress means sync or a retry is in progress. After all three attempts fail, the app explains what happened and what to do. Errors requiring your action, such as signing in or freeing storage, are shown without unnecessary retries. Local lists remain available. The app also retries when the network returns, it becomes active, or you use the refresh icon.

Offline or unstable connection

Connect to Wi-Fi or cellular data, then use the refresh icon in Settings → Sync & Sharing. Offline, you can keep using lists stored on this device. A failed network request does not revoke a verified purchase. Other devices receive changes after sync succeeds. A connected icon alone does not confirm that every change was uploaded.

iCloud server busy or still checking data

Wait for the automatic retry. Apple may request a longer wait. If an error remains, refresh later. If it keeps occurring, contact support with the app version, device, time and exact message. Do not delete or reinstall the app to retry. Temporary account verification delays are also retried; they do not mean you have signed out. Wait, then refresh if the notice remains.

iCloud account needs attention

In your device settings, check Apple account sign-in and Simple List’s permission to use iCloud. Devices syncing your own lists need the same iCloud account. Your App Store purchase account may be separate. Resolve the account notice, then refresh. Do not send passwords or verification codes to support.

iCloud storage is full

Check cloud storage in device settings → Apple account → iCloud. Remove data you no longer need, or adjust your storage plan if you choose, then refresh in Simple List. Cloud storage and free space on this device are separate. Local lists are retained.

Access to a shared list changed

Ask the owner to check that the list is still shared with your Apple account. If the friend connection was removed, accept a new friend invitation first. Lists shared by connected friends are added automatically when both devices are online. Each participant needs their own verified upgrade. Removed sharing permission is not repaired by repeated refreshes or another purchase.

Changes cannot be saved on this device

Check free space in the device’s storage settings, then reopen the app. A device saving error does not by itself mean iCloud storage is full. If it continues, contact support. Avoid deleting the app: unsynced changes may exist only on this device.

App configuration or persistent sync error

Install the latest Simple List update. If the error persists, email the app version, device, approximate time and exact message or screenshot to support. Exclude passwords, verification codes and private list contents. App configuration errors require developer investigation; changing accounts or buying again is not the fix.

Time reminders

Open an item, choose its reminder, then select a date and time and save. Notifications require permission in your device settings. Location reminders are not supported.

Widgets

Choose an accessible list for the widget. A widget check opens the app to save the change. If a list is deleted or access changes, the widget may need to refresh.

Opening an invitation

Use the Simple List invitation link in any messaging app. Accept a friend invitation once in the app. Lists subsequently shared by that friend are added automatically. If a chat’s browser keeps the page open, choose Open Simple List or Open in Safari. An iCloud web login is not required. Without the app, install Simple List and reopen the original link. Browser policies may prevent automatic app launch.

Wrong account, cancelled or expired invitation

Use the device’s Apple account that received the invitation. If it was addressed to another account, ask for a new invitation to your current email. Ask the sender to replace a cancelled or expired invitation. Each participant needs Premium. Repeated clicks do not create another friend connection; Apple’s server confirms acceptance.

Friend names and sharing delivery

Enter a nickname for your friend when creating or accepting their first invitation. If an existing friend has no name, set it in the friend details or friend selection screen. Nicknames stay on this device and do not change an account or access. Choose a friend with the switch; the sheet closes and sharing is applied in the background. If delivery fails, use Retry in Sync & Sharing. Removing a friend also ends list sharing in both directions. Your original lists and sharing with other friends remain.
